History of Maserati
When Maserati was established, it was a family affair from the start. Alfieri Maserati and two of his brothers, Ettore and Ernesto initially took the helm in 1914, and they were later joined by two other brothers Bindo and Mario.
Through the 1920´s and 1930´s Maserati quickly developed a reputation for creating spectacular track cars.
In 1937 Maserati changed hands and was passed to the Orsi family, but the Maserati brothers supported the move and were still active behind the scenes.
With the onset of WW2, Maserati halted race car production and contributed to wartime efforts by producing invaluable parts for machines on the battlefield, rather than the track.
The 1950´s saw the birth of Formula 1 and Maserati back on the racetrack, but by the end of the decade, Orsi would close down the production of track cars to focus on creating fast cars for the road.
The first Maserati GranTurismo was released at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007 and in the years that have followed, it has been upgraded and transformed into the performance machine gracing the road today.
