History of Mini
The first Mini took to the road in 1959. It was the creation of Englishman Alec Issigonis and its unique design was quickly embraced by people from all walks of life.
One of those taking notice was John Cooper, an esteemed racing legend who was impressed by its agile handling, remarkable grip and tight-cornering ability. So much so, that he took the Mini and added a few racing upgrades to create the original race-ready Mini Cooper in 1969.
By then, the Mini had already established itself as an icon of the 1960´s, but as the Mini Cooper took to the track and achieved success, the love for Mini grew exponentially around the world.
By the end of the 60´s more than two million Minis had been sold. Unfortunately, the coming decades would not be so successful, and the company changed hands several times before it was purchased by BMW in 1994.
This marked the birth of the new-age models that grace our roads today and the Mini Cooper Cabriolet is the pick of the bunch.
